After breakfast, we continue our excursion to Serbia's extreme east, along the border with Romania. We'll spend two hours on the ride admiring the stunning scenery and hearing fascinating anecdotes about this section of the country. Our first stop of the day is the Golubac Fortress. This defensive structure has been utilized to defend various kingdoms over the years. Golubac is the classic fairy-tale castle, beautifully set off by its setting in the mountainous scenery at the head of Đerdap Gorge. There are nine towers in total, each between 20 and 25 metres high. With its unique position leaning over the Danube, Golubac is unquestionably one of the most stunning castles on the 2850-kilometer Danube adventure from source to Black Sea. Following this, we will reach our next stop – Lepenski Vir. The early settlement of Lepenski Vir was first uncovered in 1965. The works brought to light sacred architecture and monumental sculptures from one of the oldest Danube cultures, dating back to 7,000-6,000 BC, also marking the beginning of Europe’s civilization. After the museum, we will stop at a unique, authentic restaurant with a fantastic view overlooking the Danube to enjoy a traditional lunch made of specialties of the cuisine of Eastern Serbia (not included). We believe you will have a completely different aspect as we return to Belgrade in the evening hours.

Breakfast. After breakfast, we'll begin our Belgrade sightseeing trip. Today, we'll show you practically all of the city's most essential landmarks. We'll begin at the intimidating Belgrade Fortress, poised spectacularly above the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers. This Fortress, built between the 1st and 18th centuries, was the site of key defensive conflicts. We will examine the Victor Monument, the Monument of Gratitude to France, the Zindan Gate, the Chapel of Saint Petka, the Clock Gate, and the Clock Tower. After we finish at the Fortress, we'll begin our panoramic trip through New Belgrade, Belgrade's largest municipality with remarkable modern architecture. We will see numerous spectacular buildings here, including the former Central Committee of the Communist Party, the Federal Executive Council, commonly known as the Palace of Federation, the Genex Tower or Western Gate of Belgrade, the Sava Center, the Belgrade Arena, and many more. After New Belgrade, we'll travel to Zemun, Belgrade's northern district known for its Central European architecture, picturesque apartments, cobblestone lanes, and fish restaurants along the Danube River. Zemun's winding cobblestone lanes and modest cottages create the appearance that it is a melting pot of Mediterranean and Middle European traditions. After Zemun, we'll travel via Dedinje, Belgrade's most affluent residential neighborhood, to the magnificent Saint Sava Temple, one of the world's largest Orthodox churches. After the sightseeing tour, spend the afternoon on your own. Perhaps visit Nikola Tesla's museum and the National Museum, or simply meander the center streets. In the evening, visit Skadarlija's Old Bohemian Quarter, which is sometimes likened to Paris' Montmartre in terms of look and artistic spirit. It's an excellent opportunity to learn more about traditional Serbian food and Belgrade's famous nightlife.

After breakfast, we'll head to Novi Sad. On our route to Serbia's second-largest city, we will stop in the nearby village of Sremski Karlovci, which was the heart of Serbian culture throughout the 18th century. Strolling through the charming town's cobblestone streets will take us to the first Serbian High School, which produced several famous writers and poets. Along the route, we'll stop by the Old Patriarch's Court and theological complex, Assembly Church and Theological Lyceum. Being in the heart of the famed wine area, why not visit one of the well-known wine cellars? We'll try Bermet wine, the most well-known product in the area. Our next visit is Petrovaradin, the second-largest fortification on the Danube River and one of the most crucial strategic positions in the ongoing conflict between the Austro-Hungarian and Ottoman empires. Before we travel to Novi Sad, also known as "Serbian Athens," we will learn about the traditions of underground passages. We will promenade amid famous cultural organizations and ancient structures before visiting Novi Sad's oldest area, the Zmaj Jovina pedestrian zone. Discover Novi Sad's rich history by visiting monuments to Svetozar Miletic, the magnificent Novi Sad Cathedral, and the Episcopal Church. After our sightseeing, we'll have a typical Serbian three-course lunch at one of the area's most famous restaurants. (Not Included). Enjoy your free afternoon while exploring Novi Sad independently. Return to Belgrade. Free time.
