The University of Oulu, situated in Oulu City, is one of Finland’s major institutions. Campuses of the University of Oulu

Linnanmaa’s main grounds are about 5 kilometres north of downtown Oulu. It houses the following facilities: Infotech Oulu, Thule Institute, Giellagas Institute, Martti Ahtisaari Institute, Wireless Communications Center (CWC), Advanced Steel Research Center (CASR), Microscopy and Nanotechnology Center, Botanical Gardens and Museum, Zoological Museum, and Geological Museum. The College of Medicine has its own grounds property and is located 2 kilometres southeast of the local emergency clinic in Kontinkangas, Oulu. In addition, there is the Clinical Research Center (CRC), Welltech Oulu, and the Medical Library. The third grounds territory is Kajaani, located about 185 kilometres southeast of Oulu. The engineering office is located in the heart of Oulu.
