To begin, if a tourist plans to remain in the country for longer than their visa permits, extending their visa well before its expiration date is in their best interest. Passport holders will be penalized US$2 per day for each month they are late in renewing their visa and US$5 per day for each month they are late after that (fines can be paid at ports). Deportation and a fine will be imposed if the delay is over two months. Visitors from other countries must report to the local Afghan Police Department, the Afghan Tourist Organization, and their respective embassies upon arrival in Kabul (if the visit is purely for tourism purposes).

Photos and motion picture filming are allowed, but only with permission from the Tourism Bureau’s Press Department on the 1st floor of the Ministry of Communication and Culture Building.
