Meet the local guide at Ashgabat International Airport. Transfer to the hotel. Rest time. Ashgabat city trip begins at 14:30 and includes visits to the capital's key tourist sites, such as parks and monuments, an amazing mosque, and other notable buildings. After lunch, visit "Old Nisa" - The Sanctuary of Parthian Kings (a UNESCO site), followed by the "Gypjak" Mosque and Mausoleum of Turkmenistan's late President. Lunch at a local eatery, dinner in a traditional restaurant. Stay overnight at the hotel.
After breakfast, check out of your accommodation and head to Mary City. On the route, visit Annau, which houses the remnants of the 15th-century Seyit Jamal-ad-Din Mosque. Abiward, also known as Abi-ward, is an ancient Sassanid city located in modern-day Turkmenistan. Continue towards Mary City. Visit Ancient Merv (a UNESCO World Heritage Site). Merv, one of Central Asia's most important archaeological sites, played a significant role in the Silk Road's growth for over 2,000 years. The magnificent XII century mausoleums of Sultan Sanjar and Muhammed ibn-Zeyd showcase superb Seljuk period masonry and architectural design.Overnight stay at hotel.
The journey begins with a visit to the Museum, which houses an extensive ethnographic area, including a huge collection of Turkmen jewelry, carpets, stuffed animals, a completely adorned yurt, and Mongol-era pottery. The archeological segment is particularly impressive, including objects such as ceramics, swords, household implements, and jewelry discovered at Merv and Margush. Drive to Ashgabat and eat lunch at a local restaurant. At 15:00, continue driving through the Karakum desert to Darvaza. Visit a small nomadic village on the way to the main attraction to immerse yourself in Turkmen culture. Visit the Gas Crater. Stay in a camp with delicious meals; the ideal way to experience this highlight. Observe the spectacular view of the crater during the day and at night, feel the heat, and listen to the noises produced by this massive oven. Overnight in a tent under the starry sky.
After breakfast, drive to Turkmenistan's North Province to see the architectural monuments of Old Urgench, Khorezm's capital in the X-XII centuries. Visit the Mausoleum of Najm al-Din al-Kubra, Tyurabek Khanum, Il-Arslan, Tekesh Ibn Hadzhibey, and Kutlyg Timur, Central Asia's highest tower. Dashoguz City Tour. Transfer to the airport for a local flight at 20:10. Transfer from the Ashgabat airport to a local restaurant for dinner. Overnight at the hotel.
