Start your 5-day trip through a day of cultural and gastronomic exploration in Santiago. After that, take a flight south to engage in activities among waterfalls, glaciers, hot springs, and native woods. For lakeside strolls and views of one of Chile’s most active volcanoes, base yourself at Pucón, a popular tourist destination. International cuisine, including Middle Eastern, French, and Peruvian, is also available.
Greetings from Chile. A driver will pick you up at Santiago International Airport and take you to your accommodation. The remainder of the day is yours to spend as you choose exploring the city. Make sure to wander outside the hotel for dinner and indulge in a culinary exploration of the city. Santiago has been well-known as a worldwide culinary destination in recent years. Chefs in Chile are reimagining classic meals such as empanadas, shrimp, and cazuelas (stews) using ingredients that are sourced from the southern Patagonian regions and the northern deserts. Not only is the Bellavista neighborhood home to some excellent restaurants and wine bars, but the resurgent ancient barrios of Yungay and Italia also have plenty to offer.
You'll head to the airport for your journey to Temuco after breakfast in Santiago. After arriving, you will meet your driver and travel to Pucón, which will take approximately 1.5 hours. Nestled beneath the majestic Volcán Villarrica, this community is justifiably well-known for its location on the shore of Lago Villarrica. When searching for seasonal activities like hiking and skiing, Pucón is also a well-liked destination. Another enjoyable activity is zip-lining, and there are other out-of-town trips you can take, like to the geothermic baths. Well, things can wait for another day. For the time being, here are a few simple things you can do in and near Pucón if you'd want to get outside and stretch your legs.
Following breakfast in Pucon, you'll take a private full-day excursion that takes you just 13 miles (20 km) outside of town for some strenuous outdoor fitness in the form of mountain hiking. Santuario El Cañi is where you're going. Hiking in this 1,500-acre private reserve is among the best in the area. As soon as you start this journey, you'll see that there is a lot of natural diversity. Hiking through the Andes for six to eight hours will see you gain altitude while passing lagoons and taking in the distinctive flora. The Araucaria, often known as the "monkey puzzle" tree, is an evergreen conifer with a remarkable 2,000-year lifespan that grows native to this area. Here, linga and coihue trees are also typical. Your guide will highlight the many wildlife species that live in the region along the trip, including foxes, pudus, pumas, and condors. You will eventually arrive at a mirador, or viewpoint, at 5,085 feet (1,550 meters) above sea level with 360° panoramic views of the surrounding lakes and volcanoes. There are no greater views elsewhere in the vicinity, short of climbing Volcán Villarrica. After the hike, you may relax and ease your sore muscles in the geothermal pools of Termas Pucón Indomito, which is close to El Cañi. Enjoy the tranquility of this natural spa setting while you unwind from the day's strains in the hot water. You'll return to Pucón later in the day, where you may spend the evening further unwinding and resting following your strenuous hike.
A full-day trekking excursion to the Pichillancahue Glacier, which is situated at the base of the Villarrica Volcano, is scheduled for today. But first, following breakfast, a driver will come to your hotel and bring you to Palguin, which is a part of Chile's Lake District interior. This is where you'll start a short, clearly signposted hike through a natural Araucaria forest. You will pause at vistas that provide 360-degree views of the neighboring volcanoes as you increase in altitude. You will eventually arrive at the glacier, which is distinctive due to the accumulation of black volcanic ash throughout the years. The journey ends with a visit to a massive waterfall hidden away in the native forest, rising to a height of 100 feet (30 meters). You'll then return by shuttle to your Pucón hotel.
It's time to bid Chile farewell! Enjoy a final leisurely breakfast this morning before being picked up by a driver and driven 1.5 hours to the Temuco airport. From here, you'll take a trip to Santiago, where you'll connect to your home flight.
