SUMMER CALENDAR:
Head north along the breathtaking California Coast to Santa Barbara, your first destination. Discover the significance of these religious settlements on the growth of the entire region by seeing a Spanish mission. Proceed to the charming Danish village of Solvang to peruse the stores there. We go north to the well-known Route #1, which allows us to have a close-up look at the breathtaking California coast (small cars will travel the southern half of route 1, while full-size coaches will travel the entire 17-mile journey). Following our visit, we go to Carmel, the town where actor Clint Eastwood resides. Take advantage of your free time to explore the town on foot before heading to our hotel for the night.
WINTER SCHEDULE:
Head north along the breathtaking California Coast to Santa Barbara, your first destination. Our journey begins at the "state street promenade," in the center of downtown. Here, we meander among upscale stores and eateries in a traffic-free area of the city, taking in the sights, sounds, and architectural grandeur in a serene environment. Proceed to the beaches in Santa Barbara and the Stearns Wharf to "walk on the water" and take in the breathtaking ocean view. We conclude our tour at the Spanish Mission Santa Barbara, where we discover the significance of these missionary outposts in the growth of the surrounding area. We continue from the mission to Solvang, which is a charming Danish village in the center of California and is known as "the Danish capital of America." While perusing the neighborhood stores and eateries, take in the Danish-style architecture. We drive north through Silicon Valley after lunch and make our way to our overnight accommodation.
We now know why San Francisco is among the world's most attractive cities. We begin our journey at Fisherman's Wharf with a cruise around the infamous Alcatraz Island, through the renowned bay, and beneath the Golden Gate Bridge. After enjoying a leisurely lunch at Pier 39, head over to an afternoon tour that includes stops at all of the city's well-known sites, such as Union Square, Chinatown, Nob Hill, and the Golden Gate Bridge. A view of the city at night from the Bay Bridge completes our visit.
SUMMER CALENDAR:
We travel east to Yosemite National Park across the Joaquin Valley's farmlands. The Sierra Nevada is home to this 1,200 square mile beauty of lakes, waterfalls, and forests. Walk from the Yosemite Visitor Center to Yosemite Falls, one of the highest waterfalls in North America (730 meters), stopping at El Capitan, Bridal-Veil Falls, and Half Dome. We return to Los Angeles in the evening following a lovely day spent at the park.
WINTER ITINERARY:
Start the day with a visit of Monterrey to include the wharf and Cannery Row. What was once a line of sardine factories along the wharf is now a picturesque haven for people to enjoy a leisurely day while exploring its rich history. We continue our tour of the beautiful California Coast with a visit to the town of Carmel-by-the-sea, home to actor/director Clint Eastwood. Enjoy some free time to stroll in town and enjoy the beautiful boutiques and galleries. We head south to the world-famous Route #1 where we get to see the spectacular California coastline up close (small vehicles will travel the southern portion of route 1 while full size coaches will travel the 17 mile drive exclusively) afternoon drive back to return to Los Angeles.
