Day-01: Arrival & City Tour of Vilnius - Trakai Castle.

Welcome to Lithuania's capital city. Vilnius, like many capital cities in Europe, is steeped in history. Founded in the fourteenth century, this Neris River-front city was a cross-cultural melting pot in its prime. From as far away as Eurasia and as close as Poland, people poured into this area, many of them to attend Vilnius University. This was one of the best educational establishments in Europe when it was founded in the sixteenth century. From Napoleon to Hitler, Lithuania was overrun during the course of the following couple centuries. Following World War II, it was ruled by Russia until its independence from the Soviet Union in 1990. Take a guided walking tour of Vilnius's Old Town in the morning. Old Town is the city's historic center. Vilnius Cathedral is among the highlights. Located on the spacious Cathedral Square, this is the leading Roman-Catholic church in Lithuania, having been dedicated in 1783. Furthermore, certain famous historical people, such as King Alexander of Poland and the Grand Dukes of Lithuania, have their final resting place in this mausoleum. Other attractions include the 15th-century defensive castle on the banks of the river, known as Gediminas Tower; the 17th-century Lithuanian Baroque cathedral, the Church of St. Peter and Paul; the 15th-century St. Anne's Church, another jewel in the Baroque period; Vilnius University, the oldest university in the Baltics, founded in 1579; and the Gate of Dawn, the city's medieval defensive fortification, built around a chapel that is still a major Catholic pilgrimage site in Lithuania. After that, you will go to the town of Trakai, which is 30 minutes to the west of Vilnius. Approximately 5,000 people live in this community, which is both a town and a picturesque national park situated on a peninsula on Lake Galvė. The primary feature of the region, the medieval Trakai Castle, rises here amidst the pristine forests and lake islands. You will see this elegant stronghold, constructed in the later part of the 14th century in the Gothic style using red brick and stone.

Day-02: From Vilnius to Kaunas - Stop in Kernavé.

You will be picked up at your hotel in the morning by a vehicle for the 1.5-hour trip westward from Vilnius to Kaunas. While traveling, you will make a stop in the village of Kernavė, which is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. During the 13th century, Kernavė served as the capital of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. Because there are remnants of prehistoric human settlements here that date to 9000 BCE, the region is also an archeological site. You will travel to Kaunas, the second-biggest city in Lithuania, after seeing Kernavė. Once you're there, you may explore Old Town on foot and see notable locations including Town Hall Square and the 15th-century Gothic merchant house known as the House of Perkūnas. Of course, you'll also go to Kaunas Castle, a Gothic castle from the middle of the fourteenth century that is perched on a hill overlooking the Nemunas River.

Day-03: From Kaunas to Klaipėda - Stop in Palanga.

After that, you will drive a little distance south to Klaipėda, a harbor city. After arriving, you will check into your hotel and go on a tour to visit the sites. The Old Town of Klaipėda, renowned for its ancient cobblestone lanes flanked by medieval guild houses, is where it all starts. After that, you'll see prominent sites including Theatre Square and the Ann from Tharau Fountain, which honors Simon Dach, a well-known German poet who was born in Klaipėda and has a sculpture of Ann, his muse.

Day-04: Day Trip along the Curonian Spit.

This short strip of land is dotted with endless sand dunes, secluded pine forests, and tranquil fishing settlements. The Hill of Witches, which is situated in the settlement of Juodkrantė beside the lagoon, will be the first destination on this trip. This landmark, despite its eerie name, is really a group of wooden sculptures perched atop a sand dune covered in forest. There are more than eighty sculptures here, representing themes of Lithuanian folklore and paganism, created by local artisans. Following there, you'll head south toward the Kaliningrad border with Russia. You will stop at Nida, another vacation town, here. Thomas Mann's summer residence and tall coastal sand dunes can be found at this well-liked summer holiday destination. After having dinner at a traditional Lithuanian restaurant and taking a stroll around the town, you will return to Klaipėda by car.

Hiking trails that offer fantastic views of the surrounding landscape and artwork are available here.
