Tajikistan is located in Central Asia and shares borders with Afghanistan, China, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan. It is well-known for its rugged mountains, which are ideal for hiking and mountaineering. The Fann Mountains, near the national capital Dushanbe, include snow-capped peaks that soar beyond 5,000 metres. The range includes the Iskanderkulsky Nature Refuge, a popular bird habitat named after Iskanderkul, a turquoise lake produced by glaciers. Tajikistan Travel takes you to the Pamirs, one of the world’s tallest and most majestic mountain ranges. However, this age-old country has roots that are as deep and ancient as time. Antiquity can be smelled among temple ruins, heard in the obscure speech of isolated towns, and seen in the rich cultural overtones preserved among a resilient people who take pride in their homeland. And appropriately so, for, despite its modest size, Tajikistan has established several impressive achievements in Soviet Union territory. Somoni Peak in the Pamir Mountains is the highest point in the entire region, while Murghab is the highest city in the former USSR. Bulunkul Lake has the coldest temperatures in this vast area, and the 13-meter-high Buddha statue uncovered at Bokhtar (formerly Kurgan Tube) is Central Asia’s largest Buddha by far. The beautiful Nurek Dam is one of the world’s largest of its sort, while the Yagnob Valley still has elements of the region’s ancient language. Welcome to Tajikistan, the home of record-breaking discoveries!
Our guide will greet you at the airport and transfer you to your accommodation. The entire day is devoted to a guided city tour. First, we will visit Rudaki Park, the National Library, the White House, the National State Seal, the House of Parliament, and so on. Following that, we will stroll through the National Park to photograph the Ministry of Inner Affairs and the world's second largest national flag, which is 165 meters high, 30 meters broad, and 60 meters long. After your visit to the Central Museum, you will eat lunch. To experience real life, visit Asian Bazar. It has colorful items, fruits, and veggies. Today we will see the main attractions in Dushanbe and learn a lot about Tajik culture. Dinner will be in a traditional restaurant where you try Tajik food. The night is in a hotel.
From Penjikent, we'll head north, first to Istaravshan and then to Khujand. The road to Istaravshan is particularly picturesque, passing across the Shahriston Pass. Today, Istaravshan is well renowned in Tajikistan for its blacksmiths, who handcraft knives of exceptional quality. We will visit the blacksmiths' workshops near the market entrance. We will also be welcomed to lunch with Mr. Usto Sodiq, a comb manufacturer, who will explain his skill and introduce us to his family members. After a substantial meal, we travel for another hour and a half through the Fergana valley to Khujand. Check into a hotel in the city center. Dinner at a nearby eatery.
Today, we will go to the Fan Mountains. They are one among Central Asia's most popular hiking destinations. You will take a day journey from Iskandarkul Lake to the Seven Lakes (Marquzor Lakes), about 60 kilometers south of Panjakent. You will have time to go on a short hike here. Their path runs along a gorge that contains seven lakes. They are at different altitudes and have varied colours. You will also meet locals from that location. It will be fascinating to observe their way of living. After hiking, we will spend the night in a guesthouse.
Today, you will drive to Khujand via the pass Shahriston (3 378 m). On the road to Khujand, you will stop in Istravshan, an ancient trade and artisan center and one of Central Asia's ancient cities. It is truly a museum city, having a history reaching back to II-VI cc BC. In Persian literature, the city was known as Kurukuda, in Sogdian ancient notes as Kurushkuda, and modern academics associate it with Cyruspol or Cyrus Eskhata, constructed in the sixth century BC by Cyrus the Great. We will visit Mugtepa, the fifteenth-century Kuk Gumbaz Mosque, and the local bazaar. You will be immersed in the ambiance of vibrant oriental bazaars, seeing impressive fortresses and admiring the unique architecture of mosques and mausoleums. The night is in a hotel.
Check out of the accommodation before midday or continue your journey in Tajikistan. Individual transfer to Tashkent Airport to catch your journey home. We hope you liked your vacation to Tajikistan and will return soon to explore more of this wonderful region of the globe.
