Begin and conclude at Addis Abeba. The 5-day travel package known as the “In-depth Cultural tour 5 Days Historical North” will take you through Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, as well as three additional Ethiopian attractions. A professional guide, food, transportation, and hotel accommodations are all included in the 5 Days Historical North package. Both air travel and ground transportation will be used for this visit of northern Ethiopia. The itinerary includes a city tour of Addis Ababa, Bahir Dar, Gondar, and Lalibela—some of Ethiopia’s most important historical sites have been around for thousands of years. Axum was one of the places on our prior itinerary that we wanted to explore, but because of the present circumstances in Tigray, we decided to spend an extra day in Lalibela and go on an excursion to several neighboring churches and monasteries.
Early in the Morning Ethiopian Airlines offers flights to Bahar Dar on ET 186 (not included in the ticket; these must be booked under own arrangement). Prior to registering at the hotel, meet the support vehicle and the guide in Bahirdar. Go to the Bahar Dar Marketplace. Cruise the Blue Nile's source, Lake Tana, by boat and see historic island monasteries. Hotel Stay Overnight
Travel to Gondar via the rural areas. Drive to the Blue Nile Waterfalls, which are 30 kilometers from Bahir Dar, the route to Gondar. Once we get at the location, we will hike for 20 to 30 minutes upward to the best viewing platform of the falls, which may reach a depth of 45 meters and a width of up to 400 meters during the rainy months of June, July, August, and September. Arrive in Gondar in the afternoon, then take a tour of the Royal Enclosure, a UNESCO World Heritage site that includes five fortresses constructed between the early 17th century by successive Ethiopian kings. The fortresses, which have withstood multiple conflicts and air raids during World War 2, are proof of the tenacity of this once-powerful African Empire. See the Debre Birhan Selassie Church, which is renowned for its angelic ceiling painting and other holy artwork. Hotel Stay Overnight
Travel to Lalibela in the early morning and arrive after midday Its hewn-out church is believed to have been visited in the 12th and 13th centuries, under the reign of King Lalibela. The churches are notable because they are polished, confined to a limited area, and completely emancipated from the rock. Explore the stunning Lalibela's rock-hewn chapels in the afternoon, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site. At least 800 years ago, a set of eleven monolithic and semi-monolithic monuments were carved directly into the mountainside's stone. The world's largest monolithic church, a labyrinth of passageways and tunnels, finely carved reliefs, and magnificent instances of icon paintings may all be found within this complex.
