One of the main attractions for tourists visiting Venezuela is the Angel Falls, also known as Salto Angel in Spanish. Mostly from June to November, when the wet season occurs, the fall foliage is spectacular. There are many visits as a result of this. Because of its proximity to the fall, we choose to begin our trip in Kavac (Kamarata) rather than Canaima, the starting point for all excursions, in an effort to escape tourist crowds. To travel along the Akanan and Carrao rivers, we utilize Indian curiaras, or boats. We continue our journey for a few days, spending our nights in makeshift campgrounds with hammocks and mosquito nets. Regrettably, we will be without ice cold beer or other beverages at this time.
Ciudad Bolivar flight to Kavac in a tiny propeller aircraft. We will have a first sight at the Gran Sabana and its breathtaking Tepuyes table mountains, if the weather permits. Our final destination, Kavac, is a typical Indian village of the Pemon tribe. It is located on the eastern wall of the massive Auyantepuy mountain, from which the renowned Angel Waterfall thunders 3,240 feet into the wild jungle. In the meantime, we spend a day at the Kavac cave, where the force of the water always surprises us. We have to swim across a little canyon to reach the spectacular waterfall. We will spend the night here in Kavac.
We hike in the morning to the nearby village of Kamarata, from which we set out on our Indian boat journey. With its majestic "Kings," the Table mountains, this blackwater river, the Acanan, welcomes us to a magical world of wild rainforest that alternates between open desert-like plains and jungle. We stay at Camp Iwana Meru for the night.
We'll be returning to the water after breakfast and sailing toward Rio Carrao. The Wei-tepuy is another of the local giants, as seen by the amazing beauty all around us. However, there is still more excitement in store for the day as we must cross several challenging rapids on the Carrao River to reach the camp. That's called Devils Canyon. Overnight stay at Hotel.
You had better feel well today. We set off early on our journey, and soon we will come to Churun, a little river that will serve as our guide and lead us to Salto Angel. Our speed is highly dependent on the water level; if the water is too low, we have to exit the boat and walk while the Indios pull the vessel over the problematic areas. Our 1.5-hour trek takes us through a dense, magnificent jungle where towering ferns vie with even higher palms tangled with rare plants like orchids and bromelias. We are able to see the Fall in all of its grandeur and beauty as we come to a plateau of sorts. All this work and excitement, though, makes you want to take a cool dip in a nearby lake. We stay another night at our camp in the afternoon after this.
We go downstream on the river Carrao. We pass the island of the orchids and the ¨Pozo de la Felicidad¨-Fall until we get to the upper part of the ¨Hacha¨-Falls in Canaima. Visit of Salto Sapo. Flight from Canaima to Ciudad Bolivar.
After breakfast our tour guide or driver pick up to hotel and will drop to airport and safely reached at home.
