The administrative center and town of Rangamati Hill District, located in Bangladesh’s Chittagong Hill Tracts, is Rangamati. The settlement is 14 meters (46 feet) above sea level and is situated at 22°37’60N 92°12’0E. During Mizoram’s British administration, Ropuiliani, a Mizo chieftess, was imprisoned there and ultimately met her demise. A 77-kilometer (48-mile) route travels from Chittagong to Rangamati. Situated on the western side of Kaptai Lake is the township. The environment, scenery, lake, indigenous groups (Chakma, Marma, Mizo, Tripuri, Tanchangya, etc.), flora and fauna, indigenous museum, and hanging bridge make Rangamati a popular vacation spot. Natural features such as lakes, rivers, waterfalls, and mountains encircle Rangamati. Many ethnic groups also call Rangamati home.
